Local Cycling Clubs

There are many good cycling clubs in and around London. Those below are just a few we have picked out as favourites. To find more in your area check out the British Cycling website.

Barnes Cycling Club

Formed in 2005 over a conversation in The White Hart Pub in Barnes by a group of friends. Since this landmark day the club has gone from strength to strength with members in Devon and Manchester.

Chiswick Cycle Club

A local club formed in 2014 and has an eclectic mix of members, from those with a club and racing background to those who are looking to develop from being a cyclist to a rider.

Richmond Park Velo

A cycling club in west London set up to share with others the joy of cycling – freedom, health, fitness, camaraderie and, of course, cake!

Herne Hill Velodrome

An iconic cycling track in South East London catering for riders of all ages and abilities. It’s the only remaining 1948 Olympic venue still in use today and has loads of history and great events.

An independent shop in Battersea specialising in Brompton and Moulton bikes.

Cycleworx

An excellent independent run by Ben Thomson, a talented mechanic and cycle enthusiast.

Bicycle

Based in Richmond, Bicycle is a great local shop catering for the high end of the market. Also our recommended shop for bike fitting.

Cyclexperience

The best bike shop in the New Forest. Got one of us into bikes from a young age, thanks guys!

The Spokesman

Former TLCW employee James has started his own enterprise in Surrey, we taught him everything he knows!

Wareham Cycleworks

Graham, Simon and Paul now run this excellent shop in Wareham, Dorset. Great location, great people.

Rule 5 Bikes

Based down in Brighton this shop is a real gem.

Bike Snob NYC

Systematically and mercilessly disassembling, flushing, greasing, and re-packing the cycling culture. Well worth a read, very funny insight into cycling.

Sheldon Brown

He was a legendary bicycle mechanic and general guru of all things bike. Arguably no-one knew more about bikes than Sheldon.
